Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Alex’s love for driving and motorsports began at a young age and shaped a life that inspired countless fans and fellow drivers. He attended Kaimuki High School, where his passion for speed and mechanics first took root, and it was this foundation that propelled him into the forefront of the drifting scene.
Alex was known as “everybody’s big brother in drifting.” From the early 2000s, he was far ahead of his time — aggressive, innovative, and fearless on the track. His driving style and skill were often compared to the pioneering Japanese drivers who first popularized drifting, and he quickly became a mentor and inspiration to a new generation of drivers. Those who knew him remember his signature “talking story,” a love of sharing experiences, advice, and camaraderie with anyone willing to listen.
Beyond his incredible talent, Alex’s influence was deeply personal. Friends and colleagues recall the countless hours spent together, from training sessions at the Jim Russell Racing School in Sonoma to informal practice in parking lots back in Hawaii. He had a fearless attitude, a generous spirit, and a passion for drifting that was infectious. Alex is survived by his cousins Jeffery J. Vierra-Beauregard, Bruce Pfeiffer, Karen Loebl Kaulana, and Puali’i Rossi Fukino, as well as a vast community of friends, fans, and fellow drifters who were touched by his guidance and friendship. Though he faced challenges and moments of loneliness, those who loved him take comfort knowing he is now free from pain, leaving behind a legacy of skill, passion, and mentorship.
