Tony Nguyen & Max Ma Katy, TX Death, Obituary: Texas A&M University Students Sadly Passed Away

Tony Nguyen & Max Ma Katy, TX Death, Obituary

The Texas A&M community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two beloved students, Tony Nguyen ’26 and Max T. Ma ’25. Tonight, as tradition calls, the solemn sound of bugles will echo across Academic Plaza during Silver Taps, honoring their lives and the light they brought to Aggieland.

At Texas A&M University, Silver Taps stands as one of the university’s most sacred traditions. The ceremony is marked by three bugle calls — once to the north, once to the west, and once to the south — paying tribute to the Aggies who have passed. The east remains silent, symbolizing those who will not see another sunrise with us. It is a powerful reminder of unity, remembrance, and the enduring bond shared by Aggies everywhere.

Max T. Ma, Class of 2025, and Tony Nguyen, Class of 2026, were more than students; they were friends, classmates, leaders, and cherished members of the Aggie family. Each carried unique talents, ambitions, and dreams for the future. They worked toward their goals with determination and pride, contributing to the spirit and strength of the university community.

Friends remember Max for his dedication and thoughtful nature. He approached his studies and relationships with sincerity and focus, striving to make a meaningful impact in both. Tony is remembered for his kindness and vibrant presence — someone who brought energy and encouragement to those around him. Together, they represented the best of Aggieland: commitment, camaraderie, and heart.

Their passing leaves a profound void on campus. Classrooms, organizations, and gathering spaces feel quieter without them. Yet even in grief, the Aggie spirit stands firm — united in support of their families, friends, and all who are mourning.

As the bugles play and the campus falls into respectful silence, the Texas A&M community will reflect on the lives of Max and Tony — lives that, though far too short, touched countless others. The tradition of Silver Taps reminds us that while their time here has ended, their memory remains woven into the fabric of the university.

May we honor them not only in ceremony, but in how we live — with loyalty, compassion, and dedication. Rest peacefully, Max and Tony. You will forever be remembered as Aggies.
